De\u010dak silom prilika postaje ratni heroj i kaplar u redovima majora Tucovi\u0107a. U\u010destvuje u bici kod Mojkovca, ali odbija da ostane u Crnoj Gori kao ratno siro\u010de, ve\u0107 se tajno pridru\u017euje vojsci koja se povla\u010di preko Albanije. Lik malog Gavrila svedo\u010di nam o nestvarnoj hrabrosti i rodoljublju dece koja su do\u017eivela ratne traume. Dana\u0161njoj mladoj publici ova pri\u010da mo\u017ee delovati skoro kao nemogu\u0107a ili izmi\u0161ljena. Na\u0161oj deci, pa i nama odraslima, te\u0161ko je da \u010dak i zamislimo kakve su se strahote de\u0161avale u na\u0161oj zemlji u periodu Prvog svetskog rata. Tragedija gubitka cele porodice u jednom danu, od jednog obi\u010dnog de\u010daka, stvorila je hladnokrvnog ratnika – osvetnika.
